In the effort to find homes for all these cute animals, our shelter organizes an Adopt-a-Pet event every Saturday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at PetSmart in Dallas (@Inwood and Forest). The dogs are transported to this location in the morning, and volunteers spend their day talking to people who want to adopt and playing with the dogs. A lot of our dogs found their human companions this way!

Or you might prefer to work with cats instead of dogs! In that case: the Luv-a-Pet center, located in the same PetSmart, is an offsite adoption center featuring DKC cats and kittens. We always need volunteers to visit the animals in residence and help with their care as well as interacting with potential adopters. Please note the shelter will be closed to the public, visitors and volunteers on Monday and Tuesday, September 29th and 30th, for maintenance work.
