Romie is a nine year old Shiba Inu, a breed native to Japan. She weights 45 pounds and was found in April roaming the streets of Dallas as a stray dog. The sad likelihood is that she was dumped and made to fend for herself!
For near 200 days, Romie has been bounced around to several temporary homes as we put the puzzle pieces of her life together. She is quiet, totally house-trained and content sleeping at your feet for most of the day. She’s a wonderful companion who will happily accompany you anywhere whether it be in the backyard, a car ride, or on a long walk. Speaking of walks, she is a great motivator! She will let you set the pace, has good leash skills, and will walk as little or long as you desire.
Romie is very gentle and calm with young and old alike. Although friendly with everyone, she does not care to have any dog companions in her home space. On the other hand, she is non-reactive to dogs outside or on walks! It could be a case of resource guarding after living on the streets! We will only consider applications with no other dogs in the home.
Thunderstorms or loud noises do not bother Romie. As it turns out, like many of us, her hearing is not perfect. There are certain sounds and pitches that she can hear! This honestly does not slow her down one bit. Her eye contact is good and she mostly stays by your side.
Although Romie seemed to enjoy playing with a ball or toys when she first came to us, she doesn’t do it much any more. This could change with a secure, loving home! We do believe she is flexible and could be very happy in an apartment or in a house with a yard.
This girl is a favorite at the shelter! She is fully vetted, HW negative, and spayed. Her adoption fee of $225 has been sponsored for an approved application. Transport to a new family can also be considered.
