HARVEY

HARVEY has been ADOPTED!

Hello, Harvey! This sweet, 65-lb. boy is a people person – loving, human-oriented, playful and smart. He may look like a hybrid sort of large Doberman, but he’s actually a Coon Hound. The Black and Tan Coon Hound is a relative of the Bloodhound, and is by nature intelligent and loyal. They are excellent family dogs too -- great even with small children and in noisy family situations.

Harvey was found wandering the streets, and was more than happy to continue his scavenging around. But a kind person knew this was a dangerous life for a dog – which was evident from the bites and cuts he was already sporting – so she scooped him up and was able to bring him into our program. He’s been neutered, micro-chipped and has all of his shots. Hooray!

It's easy to fall in love with Harvey. He's very people-oriented, and very smart. He gets along with other dogs (not /entirely/ sure about cats, they still seem like confusing creatures to him) and he loves to please.

He is a good leash-walker and is learning good dog manners. This boy would do best with a moderately active family, one where he has a nice sized back yard and can go on walks or play outside, since he LOVES to play fetch and tag – and one with a sturdy wood fence, since chain link fences are child’s play to him. He is no escape artist, just still has the brain of a puppy for a bit longer and wants to meet passersby he sees over his foster mom’s fence. Ahem.

Harvey is not at the shelter, so if you want to know more about him or make arrangements to meet him, please contact adoptions@dognkittycity.org
