Biko was found on the side of a country road as a young puppy, about 5 weeks old. He came to live in the city of Dallas for about a year. Sadly, his owner, due to personal reasons, brought Biko to the shelter with a heavy heart. For a while, Biko was very forlorn. However, like all resilient dogs he settled into our shelter.

Biko is a wire-haired Dachshund mix and boy does he love people! He really enjoys being with adults but is not so sure about young children. He is more scared of them than anything else. He would be better suited to the company of older children who could throw him a ball or play with a toy with him.

Biko loves to chase and return toys. Sometimes, for fun, he stands there and waits for the person to come to him and then run off with the toy. His favorite toy is a squeaky one. He used to have a trunk full of toys and very much enjoys being an indoor companion.

Since he was raised with a cat, he absolutely LOVES them. His best friend was an orange and white cat, who he misses very much.
