For our Little Shelter with the Big Heart this is our largest fundraising event of the year. It is designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and their causes. Early giving begins on Thursday, September 1st and will continue until North Texas Giving Day on Thursday, September 22nd. We are fortunate to have a 22 day period for your donations.
This year, more than ever, we are in need of your generosity. For quite some time, we have been saving the cats and dogs of North Texas on a minimal budget. Our mission is to provide a safe and healthy environment for the abused and neglected animals of North Texas and to educate the community on responsible pet ownership. In order to do this, we need your financial support.
HSDC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies 100% on the goodness of individuals. We receive NO funding from any government, local, or national organizations. As a donor, you will ensure that the animals at Dog & Kitty City will always have the care they need while they find their forever homes, regardless of how long it takes. Today we ask that you Find Your Passion. Give with Purpose. Be a Giving Hero!
Dear Friends of the Shelter,
Springtime means puppy and kitten season! Although, oftentimes, this also means shelters are over capacity with kittens and puppies!
Your incredible support and help allows us to do so many amazing things and allows us to see amazing turnarounds with our most in need animals. There is never a shortage of dogs and cats who need our help, but we need funds in order to continue to provide for them and give them the care they need. With the support of friends and neighbors like you, we’ve been able to accomplish so much over the past year!

One of our special cases was Scarlett. She was found abandoned at our shelter with a note that her owner had passed and the family wasn’t capable of caring for her. She was often temperamental in shelter and could lash out unexpectedly. As such, she was not a high candidate for adoption. However, after 1,300 days in shelter, someone decided to give her a chance and took her to her forever home.
So often, animals in need of critical care are brought in to our shelter so that we can see to their needs in a place they can recover without fear of euthanizing because of their condition or to create space. Your dedication has provided that unique care to our most in need animals.
As a nonprofit organization, we completely rely on community support. None of our efforts would be possible without the help of donors, volunteers, and supportive community members like you.
We are so grateful for your continued partnership!
Sincerely,
Sandra Luhring
